Short-Term Therapy Success

Franklin-Simpson Nursing and Rehab Resident pictured with two female staff members during physical therapy

We are pleased to share Ms. H as our latest success story!

Ms. H is a resident who arrived in March of 2025. In October, therapy was requested to work with Ms. H to improve her sitting position and trunk control to improve her out-of-bed tolerance and stability to sit in a chair, to improve wound healing and reduce fall risk while sitting up in a chair. Ms. H worked diligently in therapy for almost 2 months. She got up each day to work with therapies to improve her range of motion, strength, trunk control, and sitting balance. Not only has she progressed to safely sit up in a chair for at least 2-4 hours, she was able to progress from a dependent reclining Geri-Chair to a standard wheelchair which she can now move about the facility self-propelling the wheelchair independently. She has progressed to reaching outside her base-of-support while maintaining good trunk control and no longer demonstrating a loss of balance nor a fall risk from a sitting position. Ms. H, we are so very proud of you and all your hard work. Your positive attitude and dedication to improving each day, even on the hard days when you felt like you couldn’t; you did. We love seeing you out of bed, and strolling around in a wheelchair.
